Southern Essence Acres is a tiny farm on just 3 acres of land in the Piedmont of North
Carolina. Even though it's small we try to make the most of our land.

Carolina. Even though it's small we try to make the most of our land.
We have a small flock of chickens, currently 26
birds. We have 1 rooster and 25 hens. Usually on
a nice warm summer day we bring in 1 1/2 to 2
dozen eggs. These eggs are white, brown,
speckled and even blue. We sell eggs on our
property for $2.50 a dozen. This money goes right
back to the chickens in the form of feed. Our
chickens are happy, healthy and loved. We never
sell chickens for meat, our hens are for egg

We also raise Nigerian Dwarf dairy
goats. The Nigerian Dwarf is a
miniature dairy goat of West African
origin. Nigerian Dwarf goats are
enjoying a rise in popularity due to their
small size, colorful markings and dairy
characteristics. Their small stature
means they do not require as much
space or feed as their larger dairy goat
counterparts and their gentle and
friendly personalities make them good
companion pets. The milk is also
higher in butterfat and has a sweeter
